Donors Empower Academy Members Through our Foundation!
Our Foundation makes a tremendous impact on hundreds of Academy members each year through our scholarships, awards, research grants, fellowships, disaster relief efforts and public health and nutrition education programs like Kids Eat Right and Future of Food. I am amazed by the great work our Award and Grant recipients are doing throughout our profession. They have a passion and intense desire to make a difference in their chosen field and your donations are helping make that happen.
The Foundation’s Abbott Nutrition Malnutrition Award recognizes Academy members working in a hospital
setting who have made a significant contribution to improve awareness of malnutrition and taking action to address the issue. Amy J. Berry, MS, RD, CNSC is our 2019 recipient of this award. Amy serves as a Surgical Nutrition Support Specialist where she worked to implement a center-wide malnutrition screening tool to streamline workflow and the interdisciplinary communication chain to ensure malnourished patients are identified and properly treated prior to discharge. She also educates other clinicians on how to combat malnutrition through various publications and presentations.
Amy’s work is truly inspiring and just one of many 2019 Award and Grant recipients that have been empowered through your donations. Our 2018-2019 Donor Report recognizes everyone who supported our Foundation with a gift of $50 or more. There is still time to be listed in this year’s report, please remember the Foundation when renewing your Academy membership online or donate today. Through your generosity we are empowering current and future food and nutrition practitioners to optimize global health.
