Let’s Get Students Involved in FNCE®!

This year, the Academy and our Foundation are placing a great emphasis on getting students to FNCE® and involving them throughout the whole conference. I applaud the Academy and ACEND®‘s new School Spirit Challenge, holding a friendly competition to see which programs can bring the most students to Philadelphia. Through this Challenge, the Academy will recognize six dietetics education programs. The education programs that bring the highest percentage of students to FNCE® will receive a special reception with our very own Academy President Terri Raymond, MA, RDN, CD, FAND and the Board of Directors. The Academy will also be sending all the students from the winning programs to our Foundation Gala on Monday evening, October 28. What a great way to show new students what our Foundation is all about!

If you are a student and attending FNCE® this year, I urge you to take advantage of your time to network, go out of your way to meet your fellow Academy members, attend sessions and by all means, please stop by the Foundation booth to learn all about how the Foundation can help you as you progress throughout your career.

Our Foundation offers students at all levels of study hundreds of scholarships opportunities annually, anywhere from $500 and up to $10,000 for doctoral level students. We recognize professional excellence with our awards program, provide Academy members a number of significant research grant opportunities each year, and we have invested $1 million dollars in our Foundation Fellows since the inception of this program. We offer free toolkits and resources that empower you as RDNs in your communities in areas such as childhood obesity, sustainability and hunger. Lastly, through our Disaster Relief Fund, we even help health and nutrition professionals with financial support if they have suffered a loss in a natural disaster.

If you are planning on attending our Foundation Gala this year, please share our newly created FNCE® Gala Facebook, Twitter and Instagram graphics by posting them on your social media to create excitement and increase ticket sales. Pick your favorite and start posting, we are hoping we can make these go viral throughout our profession!

If you are not able to attend the Gala this year, you can always purchase a ticket that can sponsor a student and provide a great opportunity for someone who is just starting out on their career path to get involved with our Foundation. Full details as well as ticket and table information can be found here.

I hope to see you in Philadelphia!
