Ask anyone what one of their highest priorities in life is, and nearly all would say their children. Even individuals without children will prioritize the needs of children over many other needs of a society. Families with limited resources will make sure that their kids’ needs are taken care of before their own. The health of children is a priority for the Academy and its Foundation, and that’s why, since 2014, we celebrate Kids Eat Right Month every August. The Kids Eat Right program provides resources for RDNs and NDTRs to share positive messages with families about healthy eating and regular exercise. Since twenty percent of school-age children in the USA are obese, educating parents and kids about healthy eating patterns can help prevent the host of chronic disease conditions that otherwise may be inevitable.
The Kids Eat Right program is a terrific example of the cooperation between the Foundation and the Academy. Your donations to the Foundation help fund the educational materials, media kits, tip sheets, PowerPoint presentations, and many other resources that are available on the Foundation’s Kids Eat Right web page. You can also find the Kids Eat Right Month media kit here to help you utilize these resources on your social media.
The Kids Eat Right program exemplifies the Foundation’s and the Academy’s joint Vision: A world where all people thrive through the transformative power of food and nutrition. Thank you for your generosity to the Foundation and to the Kids Eat Right program. Please join us in your support of Kids Eat Right Month!
With your help, we can do even more!
