February is a Time to Show our Appreciation for our Donors and Volunteers!
It hit me that Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday fall on the same day this year, so for those of you who love chocolate but are giving it (or all desserts) up for Lent, it’s a dilemma. For those who give up anything for a greater purpose, it’s a sacrifice that you feel, yet willingly make. Many of you make sacrifices in order to donate to charities such as the Academy Foundation, because you realize the importance of those gifts and how they help the greater good.
Valentine’s Day is also a time we share our love and thanks for friends and loved ones. I especially want to express my appreciation to our wonderful Foundation staff, to our many member volunteers who serve on scholarship, award, and grant selection committees, to our dedicated Board of Directors, to our Philanthropy Council who so diligently pursue donations to the Second Century Fund, and especially to all our generous donors. If you are looking to get involved with our Foundation, be sure to check out our full list of opportunities.
I know it’s not easy to make decisions about using your discretionary funds for charitable donations, but the positive results of your sacrifice are many, and for which recipients of your sacrifices are most grateful. I invite you to review the 2017 Foundation Annual Report. Donate today or later this year to be listed in the 2018 report. Thank you again for your sacrifices and generosity.
