Judith A Gilbride PhD, RD, CDN, FADA, FAND; Jean Minskoff Grant, MA; and Julie O’Sullivan Maillet hosted a reception in the Upper East Side of Manhattan on Friday evening, September 15, 2017, to create some grassroots awareness and raise funds for the Academy Foundation’s Second Century Initiative.
In addition to being leaders in the field of dietetics and within the Academy, these hosts are educators, entrepreneurs, authors, researchers and philanthropists. Embodying the diversity of the profession and the vision of the Second Century Campaign.
More than 30 Academy members from New York and New Jersey attended for the opportunity to network, enjoy some great food and refreshments and learn more about the Academy’s Second Century. Past Academy President and Second Century Campaign leader, Susan Finn, RD, FAND, thanked the hosts and provided an update on the Second Century Initiative. Sharing her thoughts on what is inspiring about the Second Century and why it is so important Academy members contribute in a meaningful and significant way, she asked everyone to consider a gift to the Second Century Campaign.
The Academy Foundation is conducting a Second Century Campaign in honor of the Academy’s 100-year anniversary that will build on the Foundation’s success supporting dietetics professionals locally and nationally through scholarships, research grants and awards and community education – accelerating these efforts and providing additional opportunities on the global stage. Priority will be given to programs and initiatives that demonstrate significant impact in three key areas: Prevention and Wellness, Health Care and Health Systems, & Food and Nutrition Security.
